Plage !

Plage, Beach....

It was a Sunday, a beautiful and picturesque one, capturing the essence of a spring day in Washington Square, Manhattan, New York. The artists in the area were displaying their work, creating an outdoor art event where people could explore their creativity. Among the various artworks, I noticed something unique that caught my eye – old window and glass door frames with a canvas portraying a beach scene behind them. The canvases offered an artistic interpretation of a beach seen through the glass cutouts of the frames, creating a captivating and intriguing perspective of a seaside.

Intrigued by the artistry and curious about the location depicted in the painting, I approached the artist responsible for this creation and asked, "How nice, What beach is it?" Immediately, I realized the futility of it. My question was born from a desire to identify the specific location, perhaps thinking of Neptune Beach in Florida as a potential match for the scene.

The artist's response, "What beach would you like it to be?" is both poetic and open to interpretation. It reflects the artist's willingness to let viewers infuse their own emotions, memories, and desires into the artwork. By asking me which beach I would prefer it to be, the artist encourages me to engage with the painting on a personal level. It invites me to imagine the beach that resonates most with my own experiences and feelings, turning the artwork into a canvas for my own imagination and memories. This interaction with the artist adds an extra layer of depth and personal connection to the piece, making it a unique and memorable encounter in the heart of New York City.

Yes, I did buy it, and, darn, it sure is my beach.

Stay tuned : I am working on the film. Shhhhhhhhhhh
